Emotional Issues Related to Weight Loss

Before we begin to think about wanting to lose weight, maybe we need to look back and think about how we got here, and are there any emotional issues related to weight loss. Before we go farther, this is not to insinuate because we are overweight that we have emotional issues.
Typically, when we say we want to lose weight, we are saying we want to feel better than how we currently feel. Of course, it is enough to be concerned with the health issues surrounded with being overweight, but we need to begin with looking at whether there are any underlining emotional issues, painful issues that need to be dealt with or
addressed. When did I start putting on the weight, and why?
This requires us to be completely transparent and honest with ourselves. Some of us may have been overweight for so long, we just don't care anymore. Is that the way we want to finish out our life? Allowing the emotional issues related to weight loss have control over us? Confined to an overweight body that limits us in what we can do, how long we can participate, and what we can wear. It doesn't have to be that way, and there is hope. Do you believe life can be better? All things are possible for those who believe.
Our subconscious may have a greater influence on us than we think. Though we may have apparently given up on life, there is something inside that still longs for and desires happiness and satisfaction. Food is one way to keep us stimulated, and an attempt to have some type of enjoyment. But we continue to need more and more because it's only masking and attempting to cover the sadness with which we're experiencing. Is there a childhood pain we're trying to cover, are we running away from pressure at home or at work, is there a negative self-image we're masking?
For example, if someone was abused as a child, the subconscious may say if I don't look attractive anymore, then I won't get abused anymore. If someone asked us that directly, we would never consciously say this is the case. That's silly, or is it? There could be things that were painful that our subconscious tells us being overweight is a safe place to be.
Acknowledging this, if this is the case, is the first step in victoriously conquering the emotional issues related to weight loss. Seeking professional help to work through this may be necessary as they can help guide us through to the victorious path. The main thing is that we don't have to stay where we are! There is hope! We should not settle for a life filled with trying to fill a void with food or anything else that only masks how we're feeling. We can do it. We can make change. We can be happier. Do you?
We're not professionals for overcoming emotional issues related to weight loss, but we so desire to see people healthier and happier. And it's not too late or impossible for you to be healthier and happier.
